Personal History: Jessica is a chatter box. She made friends with Bella right away, filling Bella in on the Cullens on her first day at school. (TW1) We know that at some point Jessica harboured a crush for Edward and even possibly tried to get him to ask her out. She was dating Mike Newton during the last few months of their junior year, but the relationship didn’t last the summer. (TW17 – NM1)

Jessica was the first person at Forks High Bella reached out to when she woke from her "zombie" state. They take a trip to Port Angeles where they watch Dead End, a movie where "zombies eat people," but Bella has an "episode" and Jessica gets mad. (NM4) When Bella brings up the trip at school on Monday, Jess seems annoyed and makes sure to point out that "Bella had to leave at the end, she was so freaked." Jess seems more than a little annoyed by Bella’s "antisocial behavior" and her strange actions in Port Angeles and isn’t incredibly relieved to have Bella "back". (NM6)

Personal history: Charlie and Renee were not married for very long. Their daughter, Bella, was born in September of 1988 and they were divorced by March of 1989. (TL) The fact that Charlie didn’t follow Renee when she left was about so much more than a job. Charlie’s parents were both still alive, but just barely, when he and Renee met. He was responsible for caring for them. He didn’t choose Forks, he chose his responsibility to his sick parents. (PC10) Although he has now been divorced for seventeen years, he has never really gotten over his ex-wife. (TW1)

When she was little, Bella would come to visit for one month in the summer. When she was fourteen, she put her foot down and required vacations elsewhere with her father. They usually went to California. When Renee remarried, Bella felt the need to give her mom some time alone with her new husband and went to live with Charlie in Forks. Charlie did everything he could to make Bella feel at home, even buying her a car. (TW1)

After Bella disappears to Phoenix and comes back more than a little bruised, Charlie holds a slightly negative opinion of Edward, but it wasn’t until he deserted Bella in September of 2005 that Charlie began to feel something close to hatred. (TWEp – NM22) Charlie does his best to help Bella after Edward’s sudden departure, but he doesn’t know what to do. (NM17) And, besides Bella’s "zombie-like" behavior, he has a string of apparent animal attacks to deal with. Charlie helps lead groups of hunters through the forest of Forks searching for the massive "black wolf" they think is killing hikers. Sam

Full Name: Sam Uley

Status: Quileute – Werewolf

Physical description: In wolf form Sam has a coat of black – as tall as a horse but more muscular with dagger like incisors (NM10)

Occupation: Leader of the Quileute pack

Family members: Engaged to Emily (NM14)

Hobbies: Protecting the Forks area

Personal history: Sam was the first of the boys on the Rez to hit puberty and become a werewolf once the Cullens moved back to Forks. The first time he met Bella he explained how the Cullens were not welcome at First Beach or anywhere near the La Push area.(TW6)

As the other boys on the Rez became werewolves one by one, Sam took on the role of leading then through their change and helping them become accustomed to their new life. To outsiders, it seemed as if he had started a little cult. (NM7) When Jacob becomes a werewolf, it was Sam who told him he couldn’t share the information with Bella. (NM12) Once Bella did figure out the truth, Sam accepted her help with the search for Victoria. (NM13)

Sam is currently engaged to Emily. One night Sam lost control of his anger and accidentally hurt Emily, leaving her scarred on her face and hand. Despite that, Sam loves her unconditionally. He has never forgiven himself for being so careless.(NM15)

Because of becoming a werewolf, Sam was forced to turn down a college scholarship. (NM7)

Personal History: Seth is the youngest of the Clearwater family. Bella meets him at a spaghetti dinner held at Billy’s house and notices that he hero worships Jacob (NM6). Bella doesn’t see him again until the Council meeting on the beach in June (EC11), but she doesn’t see then is that he’s changed more than she realizes.

Something utterly unexpected had happened to Leah and Seth–both changed into werewolves. But this transformation was not for the best. His sister Leah finally understand why she had lost the love of her life to her cousin (EC5, ECEp), but the change was such a shock to their father Harry that it gave him a heart attack (Q&A)
